The Edition 4 Fit On Click Corporate Football Tournament presented by Dubai Islamic Bank, in association with Cult Fit and supported by Dubai Sports Council occurred from the 28th of September to the 4th of October where the 16 leading corporates battled it out at the Al Wasl Koora Dome. 

Introducing new teams like Tanfeeth, Emirates Islamic, Nestle, Shangri La, DSA Architects, HKA, Emirates NBD, Dubai Customs, National Bank of Fujairah and Daikin. While we welcomed back the reigning champions Dubai Islamic Bank, Ex finalists UAE Exchange, HILTI, Medcare and AW Rostamani.  

 The games kicked off in a high flying manner as we witnessed a goal fest as teams certainly did not hold back. This 5 a side tournament hosted 16 teams divided into 4 groups, the top 2 teams went on to compete in the championship rounds while the bottom 2 played for the plate cup.   

Some major surprises during the league games were UAE Exchange the finalists of the previous edition failed to qualify for the championship rounds as they plummeted to a third place finish, on the other side there was Medcare as they pulled off a dramatic finish by defeating the mighty National Bank of Fujairah to qualify for the championship rounds. 

Plate Proceedings

Daikin had the most dramatic affairs as they contested in two back to back penalties, after just overcoming HILTI after almost 3 rounds of penalties, they went up against UAE Exchange where they just fell short as they crashed out of the tournament. Meanwhile, UAE Exchange met the National Bank of Fujairah in the finals of the plate, a resolute performance put up by both squads. But, NBF just managed to hold UAE Exchange on a 1:0 lead. A well-deserved result for the NBF boys and a tough reality check for the ex finalists UAE Exchange. 

Champions Fall. New Champions Rise.

The Championship knockout rounds witnessed some jaw dropping surprises, one of the biggest surprises was Dubai Islamic Bank the undefeated champions made their way out of the tournament after a narrow defeat against Dubai Customs in the semi finals. On the other side of the tie we saw Emirates NBD getting the best of their sister companies Tanfeeth and Emirates Islamic as they headed towards the finals of the Fit On Click Corporate Football Tournament. 

The stage was set for what would be one of the most exciting games of tournament as Dubai Customs went head to head against the Emirates NBD. It was all action as soon as the whistle blew, ENBD drove first blood as they scored early into the first half. As time progressed, the players got more agitated, they tussled against one another more often and the pressure went through the roof. A bad collision of the Dubai Customs forward with the keeper of Emirates NBD saw a fight break out in the heat of the moment. But the referees and match officials came in just at the right time to avoid any escalation, once the conflict settled the keeper and forward saw a red card each as they shook hands and walked off the pitch. Football was back on after a short delay, and the task for both sides just got tougher as they had to play the remainder of the game with a player short. Soon after the second half Dubai Customs equalised as Emirates NBD tried to catch a breath. After a hectic second half both teams moved on to penalties, all eyes on the penalty takers as the players lined up one by one to take their shot. The nervousness hovered all around the venue, which left a pin drop silence before every penalty kick. The crowd broke this silence as soon as the ball hit the back of the net or the keepers gloves. But Dubai Customs finally prevailed as they capitalized on a missed penalty by Emirates NBD. A tense ending to what was an exciting tournament overall.

Sufyan of Emirates Islamic gave nightmares to defenders as he registered a mammoth 15 goals for himself! 

 Ahmed Mohammed was the man in between the sticks for Dubai Customs as he was instrumental in the road to the championship.
